Rare Princess Diana Candid Yacht Photo Shows Princess Di Hanging Out In 1990

A rare Princess Diana candid photo from a yacht trip dating back to 1990 was shared as a “Throwback Thursday.” According to Vanity Fair, honorary Valentino fashion house president and Valentino’s longtime partner Giancarlo Giammetti decided to share the photo on his Instagram page. In the photo, the Princess (at age 30) is seen with a young boy, likely her son, William, on board the Valentino-owned “T.M. Blue One” yacht.

Vanity Fair reports on Diana’s cool mom style:

“Diana looks like she has stepped out of a Vogue editorial, cool as ever. And that purple button-down tied almost dramatically above her waist has us planning a quick stop at the Gap en route to the airport later today.”

The rare Princess Diana candid yacht shot proves (once again) that Diana was the “people’s Princess.” She was so down-to-earth and just plain classy. Everyone really loved Princess Di, and the love that they have been showing this old picture shows that. Diana loved to have fun with her children. She was a very hands-on mom, but she was relaxed and always so chill. In fact, Diana used to roller blade through the public parks — and some say that she did so through Kensington Palace a couple of times too!

It is more than clear that Diana loved her children, Princes William and Harry, more than life itself. While she may have been looked upon as a fashion icon and a role model, Diana wanted nothing more than to be a mother to her two boys.

The rare Princess Diana candid yacht photo was described as “effortless cool” by the Mail Online. That is one of the reasons why Diana was so well-respected by the fashion industry. She never tried too hard to fit in, but she made fashion work for her — even if she was just on a yacht, spending the day with some (rich) friends.

Interestingly enough:

“Mr. Giametti was with Diana seven years later, on August 31 1997 – mere hours before the car crash that ended her life.”

As you can probably tell, Mr. Giametti was close with Lady Di. He spent quite a bit of time with her over the years, and he knew her well. He also chose the perfect photo to share with the world on “Throwback Thursday,” the week of her birthday. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Diana would have turned 53 on July 1.
