Tornado Wedding Photos A Social Media Hit

You know, my grandfather told me a lot of crazy stories about growing up in Saskatchewan, but I think all of his stories pale in comparison to the story this couple will be telling until death does them part.

According to BuzzFeed, a Canadian couple’s photo shoot for their wedding was taking place, when suddenly a tornado formed along the Canadian plains.

“Photographer Colleen Niska was shooting the couple in Saskatchewan when the natural disaster appeared.

“‘I’ve dreamed about a day like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could NOT wait to post these!’ she wrote on Facebook.

“At least two tornadoes touched down in the town this weekend, destroyed a few buildings and dropped baseball-sized hail.”

Niska’s post of the tornadic wedding photos on Facebook have garnered more than 10,000 shares and more than 13,000 likes. But not everyone is a fan of the photos.

Facebook user Marcia Jones had harsh words for Niska and the couple pictured in front of the tornado.

“I live in Oklahoma where we have more tornadoes than cows. They should have taken cover and said screw the pictures. How stupid is that d*mn photographer!”

Another Facebook user identified as Stefani Cory McLeod posted the following positive comments for the couple:

“OMG this is amazing!!!

“They say rain on ur wedding day is good luck… Can only imagine what their luck will be with having a tornado!

“Absolutely beautiful pictures, not many people can say they have a tornado as their background in their wedding picture.”

While the photos of the wedding shoot may be extraordinary to look at, it is far from the first time a natural disaster has caused a bit of a hiccup for wedding photographers.

As KMGH-TV 7 in Denver reports, an Oregon couple had quite the photos from their wedding shoot (photos can be seen at this link to TheDenverChannel.com):

“The ceremony was scheduled for Saturday in Bend, Oregon — but before they could walk down the aisle, brush fires about six miles away churned into a giant wildfire.

“Firefighters told the crowd to evacuate — so following the ceremony, the reception was moved to a park out of harm’s way.

“While the guests, caterers and DJ moved to the new location, the couple snuck away with photographer Josh Newton to take some wedding photos with the wildfire as a backdrop.”

While the tornado and wildfire wedding photos garnered a lot of attention on social media, they’re not the only wedding photos to draw interest, as evidenced by the “Top 10 Redneck Wedding Photos That Will Make You Cry For The South” posted to The Inquisitr last month.

So what do you think? Should the couple have taken cover? Was the photographer right to go ahead with the photo shoot in front of a tornado?
