Hidden Cash Is About Social Interaction, Not Money Or Notoriety, Says Secret Entity

The anonymous entity that’s been giving clues to hidden cash in various U.S. cities, as well as Madrid, and with upcoming events in the U.K., spoke out this week about copycat accounts, what to watch out for, and what the whole movement is all about. Here’s what the cash hider had to say about the motivation for the project, and the results.

In a post on Twitlonger, Hidden Cash noted that there are a number of accounts springing up to imitate their plan, and that they love it, as long as it is done in the same spirit: giving without expecting anything back.

The entity warned that some accounts may be demanding follows in order for events to occur, and stated that the original entity is not associated with those accounts, or, for that matter, with any of the others.

Unfortunately, some people don’t have such good intentions, and are only interested in generating publicity without giving back. I just finished an interview with a Spanish newspaper (we are doing a drop in Madrid tomorrow) and was informed we have a copycat there who is saying the event will not take place unless they get 5000 followers! I was told of someone who tried to start a Hidden Cash account in Florida and was asking for donations! We are strongly opposed to these kinds of things.

About the real purpose of the events, Hidden Cash explained,

In London, people were saying they never talk to strangers, but when they were out on the hunt, they did. This is not about the money. It never was. It’s about bringing people together, in a fun and friendly way. We will keep exploring more ways to do that. Would be great to see more similar efforts around the world. Social media + real life connections = that’s the real power of platforms like Twitter, Facebook, etc. Love.

There’s no doubt that the anonymous cash hiding entity has created quite a buzz. Right now, people in Flint, Michigan are getting excited over a hidden cash event Michigan Live reports is coming up Saturday, and in the U.K, the Telegraph is reporting on clues that Hidden Cash says may take weeks to follow to conclusion.

The best part, according to the anonymous entity, is that they’re inspiring others to give freely:

The movement has even inspired free marijuana giveaways, though these are related to campaigning for legalization.

Will you be joining the hunt for hidden cash?
