David Guetta Embarrassed Sia By Releasing ‘Titanium’ With Her Vocals

David Guetta scored a pretty big hit with the 2011 song “Titanium,” a tune that features vocals from singer-songwriter Sia.

However, apparently this wasn’t the way the release was originally intended to go down. The Australian downtempo songstress said the track was originally written for Mary J. Blige. Instead of getting the R&B singer to record her part, Guetta decided to scrap that idea and released “Titanium” with Sia’s vocals.

2Day FM said David’s decision caught the songwriter completely by surprise. In fact, she felt extremely embarrassed by the song. Guetta may have scored a hit with the “Titanium,” but he achieved that success by thoroughly irritating his collaborator.

She told The Sunday Times:

“I was like, “What the f**k?” I’d spent such a long time building what I thought was my own credible music career, and I found myself embarrassed by the commercialism of that music. But, of course, when it buys you a house, it stops feeling like such a bad thing.”

According to Gigwise, David Guetta’s decision to release the original demo of “Titanium” apparently wasn’t such a bad thing after all. In addition to filling her bank account with loads of cash, Sia admitted that the tune was probably one of the best things that happened to her music career. She’s also hoping that a lot of people shell out their hard-earned money for her album 1000 Forms Of Fear, which arrives on July 8.

David Guetta has made a career out of meshing his electronic dance music with famous vocalists. In fact, the French DJ hopes to lure controversial pop star Miley Cyrus onto one of his records in the near future. The Inquisitr previously reported that Guetta crafted a song he thinks would perfectly showcase Cyrus’ vocal stylings.

He recently told Capital FM:

“I’m finishing [the album] now, actually! Oh my god we made a song [that Miley] would be so perfect for. We did it like two days ago, and it’s such an obvious song for her, I was like, ‘Who could pull that off?’ She would be totally good, it’s really like this.”

Although David would love to team up with Miley at some point down the road, it’s unclear if that collaboration will ever take place. As of this writing, the “Wrecking Ball” singer has yet to respond to Guetta’s request.
