American Woman Helping ISIS? 19-Year-Old Shannon Conley Wanted To Wage Jihad Against USA!

19-year-old Shannon Maureen Conley isn’t your average American youngster. Currently in the custody of the Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) and U.S. Marshals, Shannon is accused of some serious anti U.S. activities. According to CNN, Shannon was arrested by FBI officials back in April from Denver International Airport, where she was attempting to travel to Germany and from there to Syria in order to meet her “suitor” – now believed to be an ISIS fighter. ISIS, short for the Islamic State Of Iraq and Syria, is also known as ISIL and had recently proclaimed the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate in regions of Iraq and Syria it controls.

A federal complaint against Shannon Conley states that during the seven-month period starting September 7, 2013 till April 8, 2014, Shannon Conley, along with others, “tried to provide material support and resources, including personnel and expert advice, to a foreign terrorist organization.”

According to The Denver Channel, authorities had begun tracking the activities of Shannon Conley since November 5, 2013, when a pastor at the Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada reported about a teenager taking suspicious notes at the church’s main local campus. The chapel was the venue of a mass shooting in 2007 which led to the officials there having a high state of alertness. When approached by Church authorities for clarification, she became confrontational and started talking about her Islamic views as well as terrorist attacks. Conley later revealed that she was taking notes only to scare the church authorities.

Post this, Conley was under the constant surveillance by the FBI. She was also quite vocal about her plans to wage “Jihad” against the Kafirs (a derogatory term in Arabic for non-Muslims) in an interview with an FBI official. She also thought it was alright to harm innocents if they are part of a target.

“To Conley, it is okay to harm innocents if they are part of a target. She felt that if wives, children, and chaplains visiting a military base are killed during an attack, it is acceptable because they should not have been at a legitimate target. She repeatedly referred to US military bases as ‘targets,'” an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit.

During the course of her questioning by the FBI, Shannon was repeatedly told that her actions would be considered illegal in the U.S., and whether she would still proceed knowing about its illegality. She said she would. Conley was also asked if she was planning to go to Syria for humanitarian purposes and to help the people there, to which she replied in negative.

The affidavit also says that Shannon Conley was in touch with her “suitor,” who is believed to be a 32-year-old Tunisian man who is an ISIS fighter in Syria. She had also told the FBI that a one way airline ticket had been purchased for her.

Meanwhile, the shocked parents of Shannon Conley have told FBI officials that they have figured that her views on Islam were “far more extreme” than they had previously thought. Shannon had sought her parent’s approval for her marriage with the ISIS suitor she was in touch with via Skype – but her parents did not agree to it, after which she decided to travel to Syria alone.

It was on this scheduled trip that Shannon was arrested by FBI. Her baggage was searched and contained several Jihadi literature and contact details of the people she was supposed to meet after reaching her destination.

Shannon Conley is currently in the custody of U.S. Marshals. A hearing for her was scheduled on June 26. The date of the next hearing is unknown. If convicted, Shannon Conley could serve up to 15 years in prison.

Shannon Conley’s example seems to be one of the many extreme cases of people being brainwashed by hard line Islamic literature and propaganda – to the extent that even moderate Muslims cannot help them change their views.
