Stuffed Inside A Plastic Bag And Thrown On To A Busy Road, Miracle Kitten Survives Runover!

The fact that the Earth is still populated by a bunch of low-lifes was once again highlighted earlier this week by what happened on Monday at Fort Wayne, Indiana. According to INC Now, a man, Orlo Shifley, was driving home from work he spotted a plastic bag in the middle of a busy street. At first glance, it looked like a zippered bag with clear, see through plastic. The man decided to take a closer look and was appalled to find what he saw there. Inside the bag were three kittens – two of them already dead. The bodies of the kitten were mangled and covered in blood.

The good news? One little kitten was still alive.

The lone surviving kitten, now named Mercy, was immediately bought to the local Allen County SPCA along with the bodies of her two siblings. It was later found that the plastic bag with the kittens inside was run over by a vehicle – causing the two other kittens’ death. Mercy was however lucky to have survived. While the other kittens were cremated, Mercy was taken under the care of the SPCA, and is being currently looked after at a foster home. She is up for adoption already.

Further investigations have revealed that litter which included Mercy was around seven weeks old. Someone had apparently packed them in to the plastic bag, zippered it shut, and simply threw them out of the window of their car – on to the busy road. While her littermates weren’t as lucky, the once abandoned kitten now has a new chance at life, and will be able to be adopted by a loving family soon

According to Jessica Henry. Director of Allen County SPCA,

“It’s unfathomable that in this day and age, someone literally would trap those kittens with no way out,”

Meanwhile, Orli Shifley, who found the kittens, had already informed the police about what he saw to the New Haven Police Department. He rushed home with the kittens and told his wife Dorothy, a volunteer at the Allen County SPCA, what had happened. Later, the couple drove towards the SPCA, 20 minutes away, while holding the live kitten in her lap. Dorothy tried her best to soothe the scared kitten.

“Anybody would’ve done the same thing,” she said of what she and her husband did.

According to a Facebook post on the Allen County SPCA page, Mercy, is too young to be spayed. She is perfectly healthy and ready for adoption.

Look at her! Isn’t she adorable?

The police are still looking for the people who did this to her. If anyone has any leads to this incident that may help nab the culprits behind this cruel act, they may contact the New Haven police at 493-1517
