Katie Cleary: Picture With Leonardo DiCaprio Played No Role In Husband’s Suicide

Katie Cleary was seen flirting with Leonardo DiCaprio just weeks before her estranged husband committed suicide, but the model denies a relationship with Leo and said her meeting with him did not play a role in her husband’s suicide.

Cleary was photographed with Leo in Cannes, leading to speculation that the two were having an affair. Cleary said she only met with Leo through her friend, actor Adrian Grenier, and denied a relationship.

Cleary’s estranged husband, Andrew Stern, committed suicide this week.

“He has nothing to do with what happened between Katie and her husband… Leo did not hook up with Katie Cleary. They briefly talked at a club in Cannes, but that was it. She was clearly with Adrian Grenier,” a source told the New York Post.

A rep for Katie Cleary added that the photos with Grenier and Leo were a “non-issue” and were part of work she was doing to promote the animal welfare documentary Give Me Shelter. Cleary is a frequent volunteer at animal sanctuaries and shelters and has been key in fundraisers for animal protection causes.

The 40-year-old Stern filed for a divorce on April 9, and sources close to the couple say he was devastated by financial and personal difficulties.

Even Stern’s family seemed to dispel the notion that a relationship between Leo and Katie Cleary played a role, instead pointing to his long struggle with depression.

“This is devastating news for us, but we have been aware of Andrew’s longtime struggle with depression,” a family spokesperson told People magazine.

A source said that there were no signs Stern could be considering suicide. The night before his death he spent with friends and was reportedly in good spirits.

“The night before he died he went to dinner and he was in good spirits. Apparently he was being super nice and super appreciative towards everyone,” a source told the MailOnline. “It was a girl’s birthday party and there were probably about 15 people there including Andrew. The group all went out afterwards to some new club in Hollywood to see a DJ.

“I don’t think he was drinking, he didn’t do drugs, I’ve never seen him do anything like that (recreational drugs or drink). He was in good spirits, so everyone was so shocked he did that the next day, no one could believe it.”

Stern was an entrepreneur who founded Seed Corn Advertising in 2002. He met Katie Cleary after an appearance on Millionaire Matchmaker, and the two were married.
