Iconic Star Wars Episode VII Cast Photo Re-imagined With Legos

Star Wars Episode VII has recreated quite a buzz since it was officially announced. With the recent news of Harrison Ford’s injury, a lighter side of the force is just what is needed. Cue the digital mock up team over at LEGO.

The creative geniuses decided that LEGO and Star Wars fit together so perfectly, as is evident by the LEGO Star Wars video games and multitude of themed play sets, that they decided to mock up the iconic photo with a mix of LEGO replicas. However, the team did not stop at just a simple recreation. Instead, in true George Lucas fashion, they added a little extra in the shot that wasn’t there prior.

Not only is Han solo placed in the shot in his original uniform, but R2-D2 has been updated to reflect his most recent incarnation. To add to the epicness of the shot, Leia is present in her slave outfit.

I’ll give you a second to scroll up and stare for a few seconds.

Director J.J Abrams is already crossing a line, possibly even a taboo, by jumping from Star Trek to a Star Wars project, which makes another cross reference in the picture quite buzzworthy. Andy Serkis, of Lord of the Rings fame, is holding a familiar ring in his hand, for all to see.

Another addition, sitting prominently upon the table in the center of the room, is a computer with two dates displayed on the screen. The first date is 04/29/2014, which signifies the date the cast was officially announced. The second date is 12/18/2015, which is the expected release date of the film.

The cast of Episode VII gathers around to discuss the film

Although this photo is an amazing piece that is worthy of framing, it may serve a double purpose. LEGO is planning on creating a collection of Star Wars Episode VII themed LEGO figures and play sets. There is no current release date, so stay tuned.

Although much of the film is currently a secret to the world, the diverse cast and dynamic support from companies, such as LEGO, will keep us guessing right up until the official release date. December won’t arrive fast enough for the multitude of Star Wars fans spread across the Universe, especially those that watched the original a long, long, time ago in a movie theater far, far, away.

It will be interesting to see whether the die hard fans cosplay as LEGO versions of the cast, or stick to the traditional Jedi garb.
