Iggy Azalea Already Re-Releasing Her Debut Album ‘The New Classic’

Iggy Azalea’s debut album, The New Classic, just arrived on retail shelves a few months ago. However, this isn’t stopping the rapper from re-releasing the record with a few additional tracks.

Instead of sticking the new tunes on an EP or mixtape, Azalea chose to embark on the dreaded double dip. Of course, fans who already own The New Classic can likely snag the songs individually through places like iTunes.

Although Iggy Azalea hasn’t said anything about the re-release, boyfriend Nick Young recently told the folks over at Capital XTRA that Azalea will stuff a few more songs on the record this September. Vibe reports that around five or six additional tracks should appear on the album. Unfortunately for those who can’t wait to drop even more money on Iggy’s music, he stopped short of revealing a release date.

If you’re still on the fence about The New Classic, then you might want to wait until later this year to pick it up. Regardless of what some folks might think of her music or persona, Azalea is one of the hottest artists in hip-hop at the moment.

In fact, Iggy currently has two of the most popular songs in the country at the moment. According to Billboard, “Fancy” is still sitting pretty at the top of the Hot 100. This is reportedly the fifth week in a row that the song has claimed the number one position.

Iggy also appears on the second most popular song in the U.S. this week. “Problem,” the rapper’s collaboration with Sam & Cat star Ariana Grande, is holding strong at number two. Azalea might be a Vanilla Ice for millennials, but she’s clearly riding this schtick to a massive payday.

Even Azalea seems a little surprised by the level of fame she’s achieved this year. During a chat with Radio.com in April, Iggy revealed that she didn’t expect things to blow up following the release of “Fancy” and The New Classic.

She told the outlet:

“I don’t know if I expect anything. I think other people expect things and I think to myself, ‘Hey look, I do female rap.’ That’s what I am, I’m a female rapper. That’s always a weird situation, you never know how it’s going to be. It’s not the most popular kind of thing in the world. I never really expected [my career choice] to turn me into Katy Perry-level fame, because I know it’s not that popular with people. I think I’m pleasantly surprised that people seem to be interested. [Laughs] That’s always good.”

Are you planning to pick up a copy of Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic when the rapper re-releases the album later this year?
