Jurgen Klinsmann Gives America Pass To Get Out Of Work For USA-Germany Match

Jurgen Klinsmann wants everyone in America to tune into Team USA’s game against Germany on Thursday, and he’s willing to help them get out of work to do it.

The coach of the United States men’s national team tweeted a personalized note that fans can show to their bosses, complete with his signature at the bottom.

The note also encouraged bosses to take a few hours off to enjoy the game:

“The #USMNT (U.S. Men’s National Team) has a critical World Cup game vs Germany and we will need the full support of the nation if we are to advance to the next round.

“By the way, you should act like a good leader and take the day off as well. Go USA! Signed Jurgen Klinsmann, Head Coach, U.S. National team”

There could be quite a few people taking advantage of the note. In just a few hours, the post had been re-tweeted more than 16,000 times.

The game will be a key one for the United States. A win or a draw guarantees they would advance to the next round. Though both the United States and Germany could take the game easy, ESPN expert Jason Davis said Klinsmann won’t have any of that.

Jurgen Klinsmann remained adamant in the aftermath of the Americans’ disappointing 2-2 draw with Portugal on Sunday there will be no collusion; that he and his former assistant with the German national team Joachim Low won’t agree to take it easy in Recifie,” Davis wrote. “There may not be an agreement in place but if the game is tied with a half hour to go, it’s hard to imagine either will push forward and risk being caught out.”

The United States is looking to bounce back from a disappointing draw with Portugal that saw the team surrender the lead with just seconds remaining in stoppage time.

If the United States can win on Thursday, it would not only put them through to the round of 16 but also break a streak of World Cup losses to Germany. The team lost in a controversial match in 2002 that involved a handball by a German defender on the goal line that the referee missed.

Team USA also lost to Germany in the 1998 World Cup. The man who scored the clinching goal for the Germans in that game — none other than Jurgen Klinsmann.
