Woman Slashed Her Husband’s Face Because He Urinated On The Floor

A Billings, Montana, woman is accused of slashing her husbands face — because he urinated on the floor. Sheryl Lynn Downs, age 52, was arrested and charged with felonious assault. She is currently being held at the Yellowstone County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

On Monday afternoon, the Billings Police Department was called to the couple’s home on reports of a domestic dispute. When authorities arrived on scene, they found an elderly man on the front porch with a deep cut along his face and throat.

When questioned about the incident, Downs denied slashing her husband’s face. However, she told officers that he maliciously urinated on the bathroom floor. She further accused her husband of attempting to defraud the cable company.

As reported by The Missoulian, Downs claimed her husband’s wound was self-inflicted. However, she appeared to be intoxicated and did not offer an explanation as to why her husband might have injured himself.

The elderly man, who was not identified by name, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Although he required surgery to treat the wound, he is currently recovering from the attack.

Following his surgery, the man provided a statement about the frightening assault. According to police records, the man admits that he urinated on the bathroom floor. However, it is unclear whether he urinated directly onto the floor, or simply missed the toilet.

When Downs discovered the urine, she became outraged. She reportedly ran to the kitchen, grabbed a “cleaver-type” knife, and threatened to “cut him up.” She then proceeded to slash his neck with the knife.

Following the assault, Down’s reportedly told her husband that “she hoped he would die.”

The elderly man eventually locked himself in a bedroom and begged Downs to call for help. As reported by Huffington Post, the woman attempted to subdue her frightened husband by offering him a bottle of whiskey.

Despite her husband’s statement, and evidence found at the scene, Downs continues to deny the attack. She admitted that her fingerprints will likely be found on the knife. However, she said she often uses the cleaver for cooking.

Downs is charged with felonious assault with a weapon. Following her initial appearance, her bond was set at $5,000 by Judge David A. Carter. Her next hearing is scheduled for Friday.

As she has not posted bond, Downs will remain in custody. Although she was questioned numerous times, she refuses to admit she slashed her husband’s face because he urinated on the floor.
