New Kennedy Scandal: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Cheated on Cheryl Hines With Rich Doc’s Wife, Reports Say

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the environmental activist and 60-year-old son of the former United States Attorney General, Robert F. Kennedy Sr., has been married twice already and he may already be in hot water with his prospective third wife, 48-year-old actress Cheryl Hines, according to reports surfacing Tuesday.

The reports, stemming from a bitter divorce proceeding between a prominent plastic surgeon and his socialite wife, say that Kennedy carried on a possible affair with the doctor’s wife at the same time he was dating Hines, whom the Kennedy scion is set to marry at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, in the fall.

Hines is best known for her role as “Cheryl,” the beleaguered wife of socially maladjusted Larry David on the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Kennedy and Hines began their relationship in early 2012, while Kennedy was separated from — but still married to — his troubled second wife and mother of four of his six children, Mary Richardson. A few months later, Richardson hanged herself.

That was in May of 2012. According to a report in Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, Kennedy was already involved in a “close friendship” with Chelsea Kirwan Chapman at that time, the wife of wealthy British plastic surgeon Lawrence Kirwan. The doctor and his wife separated in July of 2012 and have been involved in acrimonious divorce proceedings ever since.

Chelsea Kirwan Chapman still lives in the couple’s $5.9 million Connecticut home. Kirwan says that his 42-year-old wife met Kennedy at a gym in New York and planned to “trade up” from him to a member of the Kennedy family.

The reports of the affair first surfaced in The National Enquirer, in which a “source” detailed how the illicit couple allegedly met.

“When Bobby eyeballed the woman in a hot exercise outfit at the gym, he didn’t waste a minute before putting on a full-court press to win her over to be more than just friends,” the tabloid’s informant said. “Bobby got her to give him a lift home in her fancy convertible, and from there he convinced her to hook up with him.”

But according to the Mail, the Enquirer‘s report is backed up by allegations from the plastic surgeon himself, which are expected to be revealed in court next month.

Neither Robert F. Kennedy Jr. nor Cheryl Hines have offered any comment on the reports that Kennedy had an affair with the Connecticut socialite while he was romantically involved with Hines and Kirwan Chapman was still together with her well-heeled husband.
