Model Katie Cleary’s Husband Commits Suicide

Katie Cleary’s husband, Andrew Stern, was found dead on Sunday with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Katie Cleary, a model known for her run on America’s Next Top Model, has been separated from her husband for months.

According to TMZ Andrew Stern, 40, was found dead at a San Fernando Valley shooting range. Those interviewed after the incident claimed that Stern was undergoing both financial and marital problems. Andrew Stern filed for a divorce on April 9th, 2014. The two had been married for about four years at the time. A family spokesperson told PEOPLE, “This is devastating news for us, but we have been aware of Andrew’s longtime struggle with depression.”

Stern married Katie Cleary after an appearance on season 2 of Millionaire Matchmaker. The entrepreneur began his career after working with the Los Angeles Lakers, Taco Bell, Southwest Airlines, and Pepsi. Andrew later went on to found Seed Corn Advertising in 2002.

32 year old Katie Cleary was married to Andrew Stern, before the two divorced in the past few months. The suitcase model from Deal or No Deal was spotted in Cannes, France last month with actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor was seen whispering in Katie’s ear and pouring her drinks. Leo reportedly left the Gotha nightclub with current girlfriend Toni Garrn afterwards however. Katie Cleary was also linked to Entourage star, Adrian Grenier recently. But according to PEOPLE,”Any rumors of any kind of extra-marital relationship are entirely fabricated and completely false.”

Cleary’s representative told E! News that the two have been separated for some time, but their divorce was not yet finalized when Andrew committed suicide. Katie Cleary’s representative called the model’s relationships with Adrian and Leo “simply platonic.”

Katie Cleary’s representative also claimed that the Katie’s photos with the two men were a “non-issue” as she was in the process of promoting her animal welfare documentary Give Me Shelter. Katie has gathered ten humane societies and run a fundraiser to raise money for animal rescue and abuse centers. The model frequents sanctuaries and shelters to volunteer. She dreams of opening her own rescue center and sanctuary one day.

When Katie Cleary’s husband filed for a divorce two months ago, he cited irreconcilable differences as his reason for ending the marriage. While it is unknown whether or not Katie Cleary will attend her estranged husband’s service, the public memorial service for Stern will be held on Saturday in Venice, California.
