Kevin Hart Is The King Of The North American Box Office Once Again

Kevin Hart has risen to the top of the North American box office once again.

The comedian, who struck all sorts of cinematic gold with Ride Along earlier this year, definitely has a strong and loyal following. Quite a few of Hart’s fans and supporters pain good money to check out his latest flick Think Like a Man Too on the big screen this weekend, propelling the comedy into the top spot.

Although the sequel to director Tim Story’s romantic comedy received quite a few negative reviews from critics, this didn’t stop moviegoers from shelling out roughly $30 million to catch the flick on opening weekend. According to USA Today, this was enough to shove 22 Jump Street from the number one position.

“Kevin Hart’s ascension as a legit box-office draw and ‘Pointless Sequel Syndrome’ appear to have canceled each other out when it came to this opening,” Box Office Prophets columnist Tim Briody told the publication.

This certainly isn’t Kevin Hart’s first successful release this year. The comedian’s About Last Night remake debuted at number two at the North American box office when it landed in theaters in February. The $12.5 million comedy, which also stars Michael Ealy and Regina Hall, ended up generating a healthy $48 million worldwide.

Of course, Kevin Hart and Ice Cube had a hit on their hands in January with the action-comedy Ride Along. Universal Pictures reportedly spent around $25 million on the endeavor, which ultimately grossed $153 million around the world. Not surprisingly, the studio quickly tapped Hart and Cube for another go-around. Ride Along 2 should arrive in theaters around the world in early 2016.

Although Kevin Hart continues to generate a ton of cash for the fat cats in Hollywood, not everyone headed home with a ton of money in their pockets this weekend. The Inquisitr previously reported that Clint Eastwood’s big screen version of Jersey Boys failed to find an audience with moviegoers over the past three days.

Check out this weekend’s top 10 below. These figures are estimates, so things might change a bit when the actuals arrive later this week.

1. Think Like a Man Too – $30 million
2. 22 Jump Street – $29 million
