‘Dear White People’ Teaser Trailer Releases All Its Controversial Glory

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions released the teaser trailer for their upcoming movie, Dear White People, this week all in its controversial glory!

In a related report by The Inquisitr, we brought multiple stories on how the issues of skin color is used in a comedic level, as is shown in this trailer for this movie. For example, Nick Cannon dressed up as a “white boy” as promotion for his album, White People Party Music. However, it may have cost him his dream marriage with Mariah Carey, in which we reported the of divorce after his stint as “Conner Smallnut”. We also have plenty of serious racial news, but that doesn’t fit the bill in consideration of this upcoming movie.

Off of their official Youtube page, Dear White People is a comedy that pokes fun at how white people view black people. Eric Kohn of Indiewire actually had this to say about the movie:

“A smart, hilarious satire of the Obama age.”

I totally agree with him because there’s this notion that now that we voted in Barack Obama into office as the “first black president of the United States”, white people are “off the hook”. What is happening is that the stereotypes are now becoming more blatantly used, though not in snark or ridicule, but more out of how society and the media industry constantly views the stereotype as a norm. Still, this movie does sound like it will be very entertaining to watch.

Personally, the bit relating how Gremlins and Gremlins 2 were showing undertones of how white people are afraid of black people was smartly humorous and edgy.
