The Pain-Inducing Picture Of The Lego ‘Fire Walk’

If you thought walking on a bed of hot embers is tough, then think again. Bull Moose’s store in South Portland went viral on Facebook and other social media accounts after George Takei of Star Trek reposted a picture of the Lego fire walk on Thursday with the caption, “The LEGO Firewalk is more treacherous than any fire…” WMTW reported that over 123,000 shared the picture on Facebook alone.

The image posted showed a 12-foot long carpet filled with plenty of Lego pieces scattered. Do you remember stepping on Lego pieces as a kid and being in excruciating pain? The Lego fire walk offers that kind of pain, multiplied a hundred times. Looking at the picture alone can cause you to cringe at the thought of walking over the sharp pieces.

Bull Moose, a music, movies, and video game store set up the Lego fire walk as a promotional activity on Tuesday. Customers who were able to walk the entire length of the carpet barefoot were able to snag a copy of The Lego Movie at half the regular price. The Lego fire walk lasted for an hour on the day of the DVD’s release. The Lego fire walk was dismantled and the pieces were cleaned up on Tuesday night.

“We thought it was a fun thing to do that would be popular locally,” the store manager Mick Pratt told Press Herald. “Did I think George Take would repost a photo I’ve taken in my lifetime? No, I didn’t think that would be a thing,” Pratt said. He also said a line from The Lego Movie: “It’s true: Everything is awesome.”

Pratt posted the image of the Lego fire walk on Bull Moose’s Tumblr. It was shared 53,000 times. Someone also shared the picture in Imgur where it got a whopping 1.2 million views. The pain-inducing picture was also shared on Reddit where it was upvoted 2,500 times. The picture also gained a lot of comments from users. One use asked, “Is this a replica of the gates of Hell?” while another said, “My love of Lego overcomes the pain Lego inflicts.”

When the Lego fire walk promotion started on Tuesday, around a dozen people were already in line. Parents of children who wanted to try the fire walk had to sign a waiver before their kids’ tiny feet touched the bricks.

Sam Ellis, one of the customers who tried the fire walk said that four kids went before him in line. He also said that on a pain scale of one to 10, the Lego fire walk scored a two. “I would do it again for the sequel,” he said.
