Tanks In Georgia And United Nations Trucks Inspire Conspiracy Theories Involving Obama And The Minerva Research Initiative [Video]

Videos and photos of tanks in Georgia trundling alongside United Nations trucks has some people concerned, and conspiracy theories are suggesting that something is rotten in the state of the U.S.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, when police officers bought a $1 million MRAP that was built for the Iraq and Afghanistan war, they justified the purchase by saying that “America has become a war zone.” But conspiracy theories do not get any bigger than the claim that the U.S. Space Command is setting the stage for World War 3 by planning a nuclear weapons first strike on Russia and China.

The caravan of tanks in Atlanta, Georgia, came soon after UN trucks were also spotted in Georgia. The video report below shows the UN trucks seen in Georgia within the last week:

These photos and videos have inspired conspiracy theories like these:

“Something big is building, and it is more than likely connected with the Minerva Research Initiative, a study funded by Obama to prepare the federal government for a ‘civilian uprising.’ But it looks more like a government uprising is in the works instead.”

Others claim the Iraq crisis will be used as an excuse for war:

“If I were a gambling man, I would bet that Obama and company are getting ready to ramp up Middle East operations into a full scale conflict. It will be the US and Israel vs The Middle East which will include Iran. It’s the war that that Obama’s puppet masters wanted and it’s the war that they are about to start.”

Critics of the conspiracy theory angle claim the Abrams tanks are simply being sent to be repaired within facilities like the Anniston army depot, which also happens to service UN vehicles. Others suggest the Army National Guard units are doing tank training in the area.

Although the name of the Minerva Research Initiative sounds like something akin to the Illuminati, it’s actually a real United States Department of Defense program that has been working since 2008 “to improve DoD’s basic understanding of the social, cultural, behavioral, and political forces that shape regions of the world of strategic importance to the US.” In short, they’re studying what can cause a civilian uprising, how social media is used in this context, and how children can grow up to be terrorists.

Dr Erin Fitzgerald, the Minerva Initiative’s director, says their research is intended to help predict how conflicts may come about:

“The Department of Defense takes seriously its role in the security of the United States, its citizens, and US allies and partners. While every security challenge does not cause conflict, and every conflict does not involve the US military, Minerva helps fund basic social science research that helps increase the Department of Defense’s understanding of what causes instability and insecurity around the world. By better understanding these conflicts and their causes beforehand, the Department of Defense can better prepare for the dynamic future security environment.”

Are you concerned about the tanks in Georgia and how local police are increasingly becoming militarized? Or do you think people are inventing Obama conspiracy theories out of nothing?
