Two Dead After Replica Wright Brothers Plane Crashes

Pilots Don Gum, 73 and Mitchell Cary, 65, lost their lives this week when the Wright Brothers replica plane they were flying crashed.

The plane, a replica of the Model B 1910 creation crashed in Ohio on Saturday, killing both men upon impact.

The plane was created using a modern engine, materials and controls and was modified to make it easier to sit in during flight, however it still closely resembled the Wright Brothers’ Model B flyer.

The aircraft had been in service for just one month before the tragic accident occurred and speaking to CNN the president of their nonprofit flying association says they had “extensive experience” flying replicas.

Police are currently attempting to determine exactly what caused the accident to occur.
