Maks Chmerkovskiy And Meryl Davis: Relationship Could Be Pushing DWTS Star Into Retirement

Maks Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis are apparently serious — so serious that the Dancing With The Stars pro appears to be ready to give up his place on the show to pursue a relationship with his former partner.

To anyone who watched the past season of Dancing With The Stars, the chemistry between Maks and Meryl was undeniable. The closeness inevitably turned into rumors that the two were dating, especially when they were spotted having an intimate dinner together.

Now, in an interview with Social Life magazine, the normally quiet Maks has spilled details about his relationship, saying that he and Meryl grew close over the months they worked together on Season 18 of the dancing competition.

Maks Chmerkovskiy described his relationship with Meryl Davis as a “showmance,” comparing it to the intense feelings that might happen during summer camp when two people can’t help their feelings for each other.

“You spend summertime away from your home,” he said. “When you spend three months very closely with someone at a particular place, it is like a summer love. You have no choice but to get involved with that person.”

But then Maks dropped a bombshell about his relationship with Meryl, saying that he is ready to settle down and have a family, and that he might even be ready to leave Dancing With The Stars behind.

“I want Meryl to be the last person I dance with,” he said, “the last person I got to be passionate with and care so much for.”

Maks wasn’t definitive in his plans for the show — and wasn’t entirely definitive in the way he described his relationship with Meryl — but that follows in a similar pattern for the dancing pro. When asked near the conclusion of the show whether he plans to return, Maks was also noncommittal.

“That’s the million dollar question,” he said just before this year’s finals. “It’s already decided. I’m not telling. I’ll tell you next week. I promise.”

And for all the talk, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis are still not a couple — at least not officially.
