Halle Berry: We’re Not Alone In The Universe

Halle Berry believes there’s intelligent life somewhere in the universe.

Why did the actress decide to voice her opinion about aliens, extraterrestrials, and little green men from far-reaching galaxies? Berry is busy doing a little promotional work for her upcoming television series Extant, a sci-fi program that has to do with — you guessed it — beings from other worlds.

When the folks at the Los Angeles Times asked Berry if she believed in aliens, the actress offered up a fairly pedestrian answer. Unfortunately for folks who thrive on celebrity theories about life on other planets, Halle didn’t elaborate on the subject.

“I’m not so egotistical to think that we’re the only ones living in this vast, vast universe. I do think there’s other life out there,” she explained. Way to tease use, Halle.

One thing Berry doesn’t mind discussing at-length is her new series Extant. The show found Halle joining forces with acclaimed filmmaker Steve Spielberg, a man who knows a thing or two about crafting alien-oriented entertainment.

“The script was just amazing. I hadn’t read anything like it. And Steven Spielberg, I mean, he’s the king. If you’re gonna do TV about extraterrestrials and sci-fi and supernatural, I think he’s a good one to do it with,” she told the Times.

Now that we know Extant is about aliens, what does the word actually mean? The Hollywood Reporter posed the question to several folks associated with the series, though it was Berry who had the best answer.

“It means to be in existence. The name is great because that’s what our show is about is fighting to stay alive. At the end of the day, we are going to be fighting for humanity to exist. I don’t think there could be a better title actually,” she explained.

If you’re curious to know more about Halle Berry’s upcoming TV series, then have a look at this lengthy plot synopsis. This should definitely set the stage for the drama ahead.

“After spending a year in space, where she lived and conducted strange experiments, astronaut Molly Watts (Halle Berry) tries to resume a normal life with her family consisting of her husband, John, a gifted scientist, and Ethan, their son, a boy like no other. He is not their biological son as Molly is infertile. Ethan was designed by his father as the first prototype of a future line of ‘Humanichs,’ ‘human robots.’ But the return of Molly will have dramatic consequences for the entire planet and the fate of mankind.”

Halle Berry fans can catch the first episode of CBS’ Extant on July 9 at 9 pm.
