Nicki Minaj Shows Vulnerability And Range In New ‘Pills And Potions’ Video
Nicki Minaj is absolutely stunning in her new video for “Pills and Potions,” where she full-on embraces her sexuality and vulnerability, playing the wronged sex-kitten role to a tee.
The American Idol judging alum drags on a cigarette and shows off plenty of skin at the beginning of the new video, which hit YouTube last week, and is already up to more than 10 million views.
But shedding the tough-girl rapper image that she’s worked hard to create the last few years, Minaj uses vocals that bear shades of Miley Cyrus and “Wrecking Ball” (minus the naked swinging on an actual wrecking ball, of course), before finally breaking out some rhymes at the 52-second mark.
While one dare not say she’s getting soft, this is a nice change of pace for a talent, who’s often been seen as hard-edged.
Case in point: In July 2013, Nicki, a fan of the show Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, took to Twitter with some choice words for cast member Kirk Frost.
“Damn my n***a, after 15 yrs u wld embarrass the mother of your child while she’s pregnant on nat’l tv like that? cornballs on deck”
“If you’re trying to convince someone you’re not gay that’s the wrong way to go about it.
“Your wife is pregnant. U do that on nat’l tv? GTFOH… having problems is one thing, broadcasting it on a tv show for some air time is another
“That woman stayed by your side. how dare u? And i dare u to say it ain’t none of my business. u done sold it to vh1. its everybody business
“It’s levels to this s**t… lol… the lower level minds will never understand that. You’re willing to ruin a 15 yr bond for vh1? el stupido.”

Other news on Nicki is slow-moving. While the web is still searching things like “Nicki Minaj sexual orientation” — she’s straight — and the Nicki Minaj Instagram page continues to be a popular hangout, she’s staying low-key.
Her acting career appears to have stalled for the immediate future after the disappointment of The Other Woman this past April, but something tells us she’ll be back. (Bond girl, please?)
