Prince William Celebrates First Father’s Day, See New Portrait Of Him With Son, Prince George

Prince William celebrates his first Father’s Day this Sunday. The holiday falls just over a month before Prince George turns 1 years old on July 22.

How will England’s future king spend Father’s Day? According to E! Online, William and his brother, Prince Harry, will be playing polo part of the day. A palace source tells E! News:

“[William] will be playing in a polo match to raise money for some of his charities.”

The insider says it’s a “number of matches” that Prince William and Prince Harry will play during the summer season to raise money for charities.

Exact details about how the prince will spend the rest of his day aren’t shared by the palace source. As the report notes, it’s probably safe to assume Kate Middleton will make sure Prince George has some sort of surprise for his daddy.

A special Father’s Day portrait commemorating William’s first year as a dad is going viral. Hello magazine reports that Toblerone hired food artist Michelle Wibow, of Michelle Sugar Art, to hand create an enormous father-son portrait with chocolate candy. 1,500 triangle chocolate bars from the Swiss chocolate company made an impressive masterpiece. In all, the portrait consists of 16,000 pieces of candy.

The entire project is 12-feet x 8-feet and has dark, milk, and white chocolate. It reportedly took several hours to plan, prepare, and create the portrait. Wibow says:

“It has taken me a long time to map out the exact location for each tiny piece of chocolate to create a recognizable image. But the hardest process was trying not to eat the Toblerone along the way!”

The talented artist referenced a photo of Prince William holding Prince George while they were touring Syndey, Australia Easter Sunday at Taronga Zoo. Wibow describes how she felt being asked to create the portrait:

“When I was asked to create a portrait of Prince William and baby George, I was very excited. Everyone’s first Father’s Day is a memorable occasion, and what better way to mark the nation’s favourite royal father by creating an edible portrait of him.”

In other news about Prince George this week, Duchess Kate shares that the 11-month-old boy is now walking. An Inquisitr article reporting on that story covers the details.

Prince William will most likely enjoy his first Father’s Day as Prince George’s dad. Every parent’s first Mother’s or Father’s Day is a special one since it marks the most important role of their lives.
