An anti-kidnapping expert has been kidnapped by gunmen in Mexico. Felix Batista, an anti-kidnap specialist who has been credited with ensuring the freedom of hundeds of hostages was abducted as he stepped outside a restaurant to answer a phone call.

It is thought that drug gangs are responsible, and they are blamed for hundreds of kidnappings in Mexico each year.

Mr Batista was in Mexico to offer advice to the state about how to deal with kidnaps for ransom when he was abducted. Now that is ironic, and not in the Alanis Morrisette kind of way.

We hope that he is able to appoint himself as hostage negotiator, and talk himself out of there.
