Paula Deen Announces New Cooking Show

Paula Deen has announced a new cooking show, which is set to debut in September. The former Food Network star said the show will be featured on the Paula Deen Network, which will be available exclusively online. Deen said subscribers will have unlimited access to a daily cooking show, which will include new recipes and cooking tips.

Deen said fans will feel at home, as the set was designed to resemble the Paula’s Home Cooking set. In the official announcement, Paula Deen said she is excited about her new endeavor:

“We’re going to have so much fun being together and cooking up some wonderful new and classic dishes… Y’all can get my recipes, tips and cooking anytime… I can’t wait to crank up the oven and get cooking for the people I love: my family, my friends and my fans!”

Paula Deen is still recovering from a scandal that shocked the nation. In June 2013, the former Food Network star was named in a lawsuit which alleged racial discrimination and harassment.

As stated in the lawsuit, Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, exposed the former employee to racist and sexist comments, jokes, and slurs. Although Deen denied the specific allegations, she admitted using the “N-word” on several different occasions.

Following her admission, Paula Deen faced stark criticism. Although she made a public apology, she lost endorsement contracts with numerous companies, including the Food Network, KMart, QVC, and Smithfield Foods, Target, and Walmart.

The lawsuit was settled in August 2013. However, the controversy remains a hot topic of debate. In an effort to make a comeback, Paula recently launched Paula Deen Live!, which combines live cooking demonstrations and games.

As reported by ABC News, audience members In Pigeon Forge, Tennessee will also be treated to a preview of Paula Deen’s new cooking show.

In addition to the daily cooking show, Paula Deen’s new network will also feature shorter programs, including “20-Minute Meals,” “One Dish, Three Ways,” and “Paula Cooking Light.”

Although Deen is offering several new programs, the recipes are sure to include her signature southern flair. While she has dealt with a great deal of criticism, Deen’s fan base remains strong.

As reported by USA Today, the Paula Deen Network will not be broadcast on cable and fans will have to pay a subscription fee for access. However, the cooking show will feature a live audience and numerous guest stars.

It is unknown whether the network will be a success but Paula Deen hopes the cooking show will help revive her career.
