Carrie Underwood Wins 3rd CMT Video Of The Year In A Row

Carrie Underwood won her third CMT video of the year award in succession on Wednesday night, clinching the top spot for the fifth time with See You Again.

And, even more impressively, the American Idol winner is CMT’s top overall winner with a staggering 11 wins under her belt.

At the end of the show on Wednesday, Carrie Underwood teamed up with Miranda Lambert to sing Somethin’ Bad and was clearly a little shocked when she won video of the year again.

Clearly thrilled as well, Underwood said on the stage, “It’s really hard to believe. I’ve been doing this for nine years but every single second of those nine years you guys have been amazing.”

As well as being thrilled, Carrie Underwood was also clearly surprised as it looked like it was going to be a double Bryan-FGL win for That’s How We Roll.

Bryan, who won CMT performance of the year, teamed up with legend Lionel Richie and sang Oh No as well as All Night Long to the clear enjoyment of the crowd.

Bryan said on stage to Richie: “The fact that I have won an award with you is just amazing, buddy.”

To which Richie responded, “All I can say is, if I’m having this much fun, let’s do it again.”

Lionel Richie gave Bryan great props when he compared their careers, saying:

“Every once in a while — and it happened to me — there’s a moment and time in your career when the forces and stars come together… and this is Luke’s time. I knew it the first time I met him. It really is special. You can see it in his eyes. You can see it in the way he acts. He feels empowered right now and I know that wonderful feeling. And by the way, it’s going to happen for a while because he has that genuine personality.”

Carrie Underwood will be very proud of her success at the CMT Awards, and so she should be. She proves time and again that she is a wonderful and talented performer.
