Man VS. Nude: Adam Richman Shows Off 70-Pound Weight Loss

Adam Richman, known for hosting Travel Channel’s Man v. Food, shows off his sexy new body on the July 2014 issue of Cosmopolitan UK to highlight his impressive 70-pound weight loss.

Man v. Food ran from 2008 to 2012. On the show, Richman travels to different cities across the US to explore food offerings. In some episodes, Richman takes on food challenges, such as downing a 5-pound sandwich or eating hot and spicy food. He interacts with chefs and restaurateurs and tastes various delectable dishes that make viewers across America salivate.

Over the show’s four seasons, Richman has gained a lot of weight, and the body change affected his self-esteem.

Now, after months of hard work, Adam Richman is proud to present his new body image by posing nude. E Online reports that Richman lost weight due to changing his diet and following a rigorous exercise regimen coupled with soccer, which he played in order to break the monotony of gym workouts. “My soccer training includes squats, pushups, resistance-band work, and sprints. 90 minutes of running became part of my love of the game rather than a chore,” he said.

Although Richman had a pretty good reason for stripping down, he actually did the naked editorial to raise awareness for male cancer.

Speaking to US Weekly, Richman stated:

“If you’re a guy who’s always been the fun-to-be-around teddy bear, then all of a sudden people are viewing you as sexy, it’s nice. It’s great not having to be the plucky best friend, or the comic relief anymore – I love that. Who wouldn’t rather hear, ‘Wow, you look great,’ than, ‘Ewww…’?”

Last year, Richman wrote an essay for Men’s Health where he shared his struggles with health issues and weight gain. The 40-year-old said that is was depressing to see himself on tape. However, he also said that it wasn’t just his physical image that made him decide to lose weight. “Airplane seats felt cramped, I was wearing an XXL jacket, and I had less energy,” he said.

Richman sought help from a nutritionist and a doctor to aid him on his weight loss journey. His 70-pound weight loss took only 10 months. Adam said he misses food, but he is now happier with his healthy weight. His new show on the Travel Channel Man Finds Food, where he goes on a quest to uncover unique eats across the country, premieres on July 2.

Cosmopolitan UK is now available on newsstands.
