Brad Paisley Posts Westboro Baptist Church Selfie, Ha

Westboro Baptist Church may be running out of people to harass, as Brad Paisley is about as milquetoast as you can get — and the notorious Trolls For God opted to picket the country singer’s stop in Bonnor Springs, Kansas last Sunday.

While Brad Paisley is the latest target of Westboro Baptist Church, the controversial hate group is well known across the country and world for their sickening antics. The group drew massive attention for their horrible protest of murder victim Matthew Shepard back in the 90s, and in the intervening years, have made a name for themselves holding up taunting signs outside funerals and other events, mocking the grieving.

Holding signs that read Sin Breeds Violence,” “God Hates Drunks,” and “God Controls All” outside Cricket Wireless Amphitheater, protesters ostensibly were responding to a song Paisley wrote and performs, called “Alcohol.”

Over on Instagram, the singer posted two selfies of himself in front of the protesters, looking like just another dude and with no visible entourage or protection from the oddballs.

In the first, he quips “crazies for Paisley,” and posts:

The second Paisley WBC selfie was a bit more lengthily captioned, and he jokes:

“Westboro Baptist Selfie!! Or west-Burro(ass) selfie. Hopefully they can hear the show out here. We’ll play loud.”

Comments on Paisley’s Instagram post were approving, with one follower saying:

“They sure are a very judgmental group of so called Christians. Last I recall, God is the only judge! I am a preachers daughter, I love your music!! Keep up the good work. Love how you handle these kinds of situations too…With humor. That’s all you can do.”

Paisley posted the same image and comment to Twitter, where it has nearly 9,000 likes and several thousand more re-shares:

Being famous and all, Paisley also managed to score a meta-selfie — a fan passing by took a selfie while Paisley took a selfie, creating a rare celebrity selfie-ception:
