Mariah Carey Favors Cartoons Over Reality TV

Mariah Carey isn’t spending a lot of time keeping up with Kardashians these days. Considering her husband used to date Kim, that’s not altogether surprising.

Earlier this year, Carey’s husband Nick Cannon declared that his famous wife is completely unfamiliar with Kim Kardashian and her numerous contributions to society. Although this news was definitely a little hard to swallow, the School Dance director told Howard Stern that his spouse doesn’t really spend a lot of time worrying about other celebrities and their various endeavors.

“[Mariah Carey] doesn’t even know who Kim Kardashian is. She doesn’t pay attention to that,” Cannon explained. If the singer was using her husband to toss some serious shade in the newlywed’s general direction, then her mission was certainly accomplished.

According to Contactmusic, Carey addressed her alleged ignorance regarding reality TV stars during a conversation with Hello! Magazine. While she is familiar with Kim, she doesn’t spend her free time binge-watching episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

“Of course I’ve heard of her, but I don’t really watch reality television,” Mariah explained.

So what sort of programs wide their way onto Carey’s TV? Since she’ busy raising two kids, the singer spends a lot more time watching cartoons than anything else. Honestly, this writer feels she’s definitely made the right choice.

“Now I only watch animation with the children because Dem Babies are very picky and like to watch cartoons until they go to sleep,” Mariah told the publication.

Although Mariah doesn’t have a problem discussing where she stands regarding her viewing habits, you’ll probably never catch the singer saying anything about those nasty divorce rumors that keep popping up in the tabloids. The Inquisitr previously reported that she and Nick Cannon try to avoid this sort of ugly gossip whenever possible.

“You kind of have to ignore it because every week it’s something different, and if you paid attention to it, it actually probably would start really affecting you. It’s kind of humorous, really. It couldn’t be further off from the truth, and it really affects the credibility of the so-called newspapers,” he recently told Parade.

At the moment, Mariah Carey has more pressing matters to address. Her latest album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, will debut at number three on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart. It’s rumored that she only sold between 55,000 and 60,000 copies, which marks her lowest first-week sales ever. That’s definitely not the sort of return Carey was hoping to make.
