‘Arsenio Hall Show’ Cancelled After A Single Season

Arsenio Hall can’t seem to catch a break. His latest excursion into the talk show world was reportedly cancelled after one season due to a lack of interest from viewers.

Fans of Hall’s late-night chat program from the 90s were understandably excited when he was given a chance to relive his glory days. The whole thing was seemingly spurred by his stint on Celebrity Apprentice, a show that suggested the guy still had a very strong and devoted fanbase. Unfortunately, this didn’t translate into strong ratings for his talk show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS Television decided to renew The Arsenio Hall Show for another go-around back in February. Unfortunately for Hall and his fans, the distributor ultimately decided against producing another batch of episodes. Nothing like having the rug pulled out from under you after getting some good news.

CBS said in a statement:

“Unfortunately, ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue. Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

USA Today reports that Hall is understandably bummed about the cancellation of his television series. Instead of spouting some nasty things about the boys and girls at CBS, Arsenio said that he was extremely thrilled about the year he spent on the talk show circuit.

The comedian explained:

“When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge — I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created. I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”

Not surprisingly, Arsenio Hall and his bad luck were fodder for folks who spend a lot of time on Twitter. While some folks were upset about the show’s untimely demise, others just used the story to make fun of Hall’s bad luck — including Arsenio.

Are you disappointed that The Arsenio Hall Show got cancelled?
