The One Where David Schwimmer Helps The Police Solve A Case

Friends actor David Schwimmer helped the New York police solve a crime that took place right beside his East Village townhouse on Monday morning.

According to The New York Post, a fight broke out at 5:40 am on Monday on the first floor of an apartment building on East Sixth Street, which is located beside David Schwimmer’s home.

Three individuals were involved in a computer theft. According to reports, two men were arguing about payment for a hooker, who was said to be the third individual. The agreement turned physical, resulting in one of the men sustaining stab wounds to the face. There were no other witnesses to the incident. Police only had the statements of the two men involved.

The New York Police turned to the only man who could aid in solving the crime – David Schwimmer. The police noticed that there was a security surveillance camera installed on the property of Schwimmer. David willingly showed them the video, and the police left with the footage that may be used in court.

The Guardian named one of the men involved in the incident. Robert Rainey was charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, and assault. He allegedly sneaked into the victim’s apartment and tried to steal his computer.

The unnamed victim was with a transvestite prostitute, who is said to be an accomplice of Rainey, at the time of the burglary. When the victim confronted Rainey, the prostitute used pepper spray on the victim and fled the scene immediately. The victim tried to defend himself with a knife, but Rainey was quick to turn it on him.

David Schwimmer’s security camera was able to record the end of the fight, as the two men went outside the apartment complex. The footage provided by Schwimmer helped the police identify the real assailant.

Schwimmer purchased his 331 E. Sixth St. home in 2010. Since then, David has not been popular with his neighbors, as he demolished the oldest structure on the block, and disturbed his neighbors with all the house renovations. However, with his help in solving a crime, neighbors may change their minds and think that he’s not such a bad guy after all.

One of David Schwimmer’s neighbors, Jayson Fillermutter, said, “Four years ago, I would say David Schwimmer was the least popular guy on the block with the construction and all, but he has turned out to be a decent neighbor, and I am glad to hear he helped the cops with that stabbing.”
