With rumors circulating that Sony will release the Playstation 4 by the end of the year and Foxconn and Pegatron said to be leading the manufacturing process for the device conceptual designs for the new gaming console have begun hitting the internet and the design by Joseph Dumary is one of our favorites.

Not only does Dumary’s design look futuristic, it’s composed of 60% recyclable materials and uses 0 watts of energy in standby mode and has an ECO Restart function for game saving and console turn offs and resume functions without a full restart which add to a devices energy pull.

According to Dumary his design will charge a battery that will shut off the consoles primary power every 30-minutes and use five minutes of rechargeable battery power.

The futuristic design would also use DPConnect TV for wireless TV connectivity and would be able to detect proper TV resolution and audio output.

In terms of other hardware features the device would provide users with a 1.5TB HDD, full 3D 4K2K compatibility and DLNA. Users would also receive 3D Blu-Ray support, HDMI Connect and a high-speed USB 3.0 connection.

Here’s a bunch of closeups for the Playstation 4 conceptual design:

Given Sony’s recent PS3 PR nightmare caused the the hacking and destruction of their online gaming system they could use all the help they can get with their new system, perhaps energy saving features and wireless connectivity would be a goo starting point for the company.
