Zayn Malik Finds His Calling As A Rapper

Zayn Malik has kept his rap skills hidden from the world for a long time. However, it would seem this is going to change very soon.

Newsflash: One Direction is working on a new album, an endeavor that could find its way into your ears before the end of the year. After all, the fellas recently said they intend to unveil a new album every 12 months. Since Midnight Memories dropped towards the end of 2013, it’s almost time for the guys to make good on their promise.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Zayn Malik intends to flex his hip-hop skills on the group’s next studio outing. Before you start laughing at the thought of Zayn rocking the mic, apparently the guy has talent to spare. Who knew?

According to Perez Hilton, Malik has officially received Naughty Boy’s seal of approval in the rap department. Should the songs find their way onto the new record, fans are reportedly in for a serious treat.

Here’s what the rapper had to say about Malik’s abilities:

“Zayn’s actually quite a good rapper. We’ve been in the studio doing some One Direction stuff and you know, he can spit bars! Of course he can! Big up Zayn and his bars.”The song’s amazing that we’ve done. Emeli [Sandé] wrote on it as well and this new guy Sam Roman who’s on my next single as well.”

Unfortunately, it’s unknown if these tracks will make the final cut. Although Zayn Malik is reportedly having a blast at trying his hand at a slightly different sound, there’s no guarantee that fans will ever get to hear the fruits of his labor.

Here’s what an anonymous source had to say about the situation:

“No one knows yet whether they will make the cut for One Direction’s new album, as it would be a massive leap away from their pop sound, but Zayn is loving the creative freedom.”

Regardless of whether Zayn’s rap-oriented contributions make the cut, One Direction singer Liam Payne seems to thinks the new record is going to shut down the haters. In fact, he suspects that more guys will end up picking up the album when all is said and done.

“People say we don’t work hard and it’s all a game and whatever. We just wanna make good music, and this album — honestly, every lad out there tonight who’s thinking One Direction are this and that. Literally, next album — pick up our album and see what you feel,” the singer explained to Capital FM.
