Doug Hutchison, 51, and Courtney Stodden, 16, Address Marriage in ‘GMA’ Interview

51 year-old actor Doug Hutchison and 16-year-old aspiring country singer Courtney Stodden made headlines recently when they shocked the nation by getting married.

Now the awkward couple is back on the radar after a sitting down with Good Morning America for their first interview which can only be described as weird.

The interview starts with Hutchison claiming he had no idea that Stodden – who spends the majority of the interview licking her lips while staring at her new husband – was only a teen when the two met online after she signed up for one of his acting classes.

“My world turned upside down…. It didn’t make me want to walk away, but it definitely was a struggle inside my heart … because I had already started falling for her,” Doug said, explaining his shock after discovering Courtney was only 16.

From there, the couple discusses their online courtship, which was monitored and approved of by Mrs. Stodden, and the beautiful moment when Doug – three times the age of his bride – called and explained to Courtney’s parents that he was falling in love with their daughter.

“I said, Krista (Mrs. Stodden), I don’t know if you know this or not, but your daughter and I are falling in love. If you and Alex have any misgivings whatsoever about this … I will respect you, and Courtney will respect you. And we will step back.”

Both parents oddly had no reservations, giving Hutchison the window to propose, which he did upon meeting Courtney for the first time in person.

The newlyweds, who are considering the possibility of a reality show, now live together in Hutchison’s Hollywood home along with their pet Chihuahua, Everette.
