Sony exec: PlayStation Network hack was “a great experience”

If you were to ask me to describe the whole PlayStation Network hack fiasco, I’d probably have to classify it as a disaster of profound proportions. Sony Network Entertainment Tim Schaaff, on the other hand, would and did classify it as a “great experience.”

“We’re back online, everything’s live again around the world, and the amazing thing through all of this is that the customers have all come back, and network performance is better than ever, sales are better than ever, and we’ve been very, very pleasantly surprised by the experience,” Schaaff said at the MobileBeat press conference.

Despite the fact that Sony was dealing with PSN’s massive userbase being locked out of PSN for over a month, the potential for credit card fraud looming over weary consumers’ heads, and a significant financial hit to third-party publishers who relied on the PlayStation Store to actually work, Schaaff looks back mostly positively on the whole ordeal. When asked to sum up the experience, he said:

“It’s been a great experience. I would not like to do it again. One time was enough. Great learning experience.”

That, my friends, is what positivity looks like.
