Ellie Goulding has spoken in the past about her difficulties finding a boyfriend, but it appears she’s gotten over that hump.
This week controversial musician Dougie Poynter confirmed that he and the pop star are indeed dating. The pair had been seen holding hands recently, but not yet publicly confirmed that they are in a relationship.
Now in an interview for the ITV2 series Fearne and McBusted, Dougie Poynter admitted that the two are a couple, but didn’t say much else.
“Yeah. All is good in that area,” he says of his romance with Ellie Goulding.
Poynter is the guitarist and vocalist for the pop band McFly. He recently came out of a stint in rehab, which he said was a life-changing experience.
“You don’t even realize how bad it is until you stop,” he says. “I don’t know how much worse it could have got and I don’t want to know.”
The relationship is a change-up for Ellie Goulding, who recently lamented about her difficulties in the romance department.
“I love that holding hands with my friends means we’re an item,” Ellie tweeted in response to rumors that the two were a couple. “In that case I am in many relationships. Lover not a hater.”
Despite her difficulties, Goulding may seem like a good fit with the troubled Dougie Poynter.
“People might think I am [squeaky clean] but I’m not. I’ve been quite clever about what gets in the press but I’ve done some stupid things, some reckless things,” she said earlier this year. “A few too many drinks have caused a lot of things to happen.”
Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter may not have much time together in the near future. She’s in Australia through the end of the month for her spring tour.
