Halle Berry Opens Up About Her ‘Geriatric Pregnancy’ [Video]

For the first time, Halle Berry is opening up about her pregnancy and her baby boy. The actress went on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her upcoming series Extant.

Oddly enough, at 47-years-old, Halle’s miracle baby, Maceo, was considered to be a “geriatric pregnancy.” Of the surprise pregnancy, Berry told Ellen that it was a shock for her.

“I didn’t think it was possible at my age. They call it a ‘geriatric pregnancy.”

Berry wasn’t shy in talking about just why she was so shocked that she became pregnant. According to the X-Men actress, she was on her way to saying goodbye to being able to become pregnant.

“I was, you know, on my way–this is probably way TMI–but I was really, you know, kind of premenopausal. So to have this happen was a huge.”

Berry and her husband actor and a self-professed boxer Olivier Martinez welcomed their son last October. Halle Berry also has a daughter, 6-year-old Nahla, with her ex Gabriel Aubry.

The actress told Ellen DeGeneres that it was her daughter Nahla’s prayers that might have been answered:

“She prayed and prayed for him for like a year and a half for a baby and a bunk bed and she got both of those things.”

Ellen DeGeneres agreed that the pregnancy must have been “a miracle!” Berry followed the statement up by saying, “Only her prayers could have done this.”

As far as how Nahla rates as a big sister, Berry says that she’s a very hands on sibling and that little brother Maceo is a doll to his big sister.

“He’s like one of her dollies that came to life. You know and all she wants to do is change his clothes. Like she’ll purposely throw something on his shirt and say, ‘Oh mommy, he’s got to change his shirt. He has a mess on him!’ She just likes to change his clothes, change his diapers.”

Although Nahla and Maceo seem to be hitting it off well, Halle did notice the vast differences between the two when it comes to breast feeding. Berry imitated Nahla’s “nice little girly suck” and as for Maceo, she said that he’s much more lively.

“He’s like sucking the life out of me. So I see the difference between boys and girls.”

For Ellen DeGeneres, that was the TMI that got her, but of course the host was just being herself and joking around.
