Scribd Snags Bebo Exec, Fresh Funding

Scribd, the online document sharing service, has secured new funding and a new executive.

Scribd announced a $9 million round of dough today, along with the hire of former Bebo COO George Consagra (not to be confused with George Costanza) as president. Consagra will work to expand the company’s business operations. He’s credited with helping Bebo more than double its membership during its road to AOL acquisition.

Also coming on-board is former Slide exec Tammy Nam, who will become Scribd’s new VP of marketing.

On the whole, Scribd plans to use its fresh funding to make more hires and expand its product offerings. The series B financing was led by Charles River Ventures with added help from Redpoint Ventures and Kinsey Hills Group.

We use Scribd fairly regularly here at The Inquisitr for the posting of PDFs and other large documents. It’s an incredibly easy and effective way to get the task done. In fact, here’s the official Scribd announcement, saved as a PDF and uploaded through Scribd. How’s that for a fitting usage?
