Police Assault Woman For Taking A Tylenol Tablet [Video]

There is no shortage of police brutality videos available in the modern world of cellphones but this latest one, taken from a surveillance camera at a courthouse in Ohio shows a women being handcuffed and arrested. She was charged with resisting arrest. Police also forcibly opened her mouth to pry out a Tylenol tablet the woman took for a toothache.

Siobhan Householder was the woman who was attacked by police. She has formally been charged with resisting arrest and faces up to two years in jail for the offense. The deputies who assaulted her are not facing charges at all, in fact they are not even facing an inquiry.

Householder, a 35 year old mother of three, was at the courthouse in a holding area to make an appearance for an unrelated incident. She reached into her pocket book and took out a Tylenol tablet and put it in her mouth. At that point the surveillance footage shows a Summit County Sheriff’s deputy leap across the room to stop her from ingesting what he thought was an illegal narcotic.

Householder was told to spit out the pill but she replied “I Can’t.” indicting that she had already swallowed it. The police officer grabbed her by the hair and forced his hands into her mouth in order to pry the pill out. Householder was photographed later with severe bruising on her chin, legs and face as well as deep cuts in her mouth from the deputy’s fingernails. There were also large chunks of hair ripped from her head.

In an interview after the incident Householder told the press:

“He said, ‘What are you taking?’ and I said, Tylenol And he said, ‘Spit it out’ and I said, ‘I can’t.’ I meant to say I can’t spit it out because I had already swallowed the other pills. But I didn’t even get that part out before he just yanked me up and threw me down on the ground and was trying to dig these pills out of mouth. There was one [pill] in there and I couldn’t even get it out because he kept shoving his hand in my mouth. and squeezing my face and pulling my hair at the same time.”

Householder is pressing to have the deputy investigated and charged with illegal use of force.
