Alec Baldwin Explained Why Police Detained Him

As we reported previously, Alec Baldwin was detained by police officers in New York City. Multiple reports stated that Baldwin was biking down the wrong way on Fifth Ave and was given a summons. When the actor became belligerent, he was given another summons and was taken into custody. One source tells ABC News the actor was “arrogant and loud,” which isn’t an unusual description when referring to the outspoken actor.

Now, Baldwin is setting the record straight by telling his side of the story. In a move that surprises no one, Alec had a different take on the whole incident that took place on Tuesday morning. He once again took to Twitter to explain the whole situation:

“I asked both police officers today to ticket me. If they contend that I asked for special treatment, they are lying. If you don’t have ID in NY when they write you a summons, they can take you in. Officer Moreno did not know me. Officer Weinstein did.”

Alec Baldwin continued in a series of tweets:

“Moreno shouted, ‘Let’s do this the right way!’ And handcuffed me. I told both officers I was happy to accept the summons and go. One officer seemed inclined toward that. Moreno did not. I think handcuffing some1 4 riding a bicycle in the wrong direction is ridiculous. Report of disorderly conduct is a distortion by Moreno.”

Moreno, whose name is actually Montero, is the officer that detained Baldwin and the main person that Alec has decided to point a finger at in the wake of his arrest.

Baldwin continues his Twitter storytelling:

“So, when a cop lies to protect themself [sic], what do I plead in court on July 14th? Even if you are innocent, w witnesses, what do you do? My only point is that claims by Moreno of disorderly conduct are either a distortion or outright lie. Moreno lied in her report.”

His last tweet on the subject matter is as follows:

In addition, the actor has also decided to argue with those who aren’t quite believing his story.

The fact that Alec Baldwin would take to Twitter to explain his side of the story shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Right after he was released, he tweeted out about the situation and then seemed to collect his thoughts for a lengthier explanation.
