Jaycee Dugard speaks out in new book, interview with Diane Sawyer

Posted: July 9, 2011

Jaycee Dugard, the kidnap victim who was held in captivity for nearly two years, is now starting to speak out about the horrific moments spent in the home of kidnappers Phillip and Nancy Garrido.

Dugard’s new book, ‘A Stolen Life‘, details her nearly eighteen years of captivity from the beginning, when her father dropped her off at a school bus stop. She goes on in the book to detail the birth of her first child, Angel, at age fourteen while in captivity.

Dugard will also be speaking to Diane Sawyer in an exclusive Primetime interview this Sunday at 9/8C. In the interview, Dugard expressed just how happy she felt to one again have the basic freedoms that most of us take for granted.

“Now I can walk in the next room and see my mom,” Dugard told Diane Sawyer in the interview. “Wow. I can decide to jump in the car and go to the beach with the girls. Wow, it’s unbelievable, truly.”

A Stolen Life is due out on Tuesday, July 12. See below for a preview from the Primetime-exclusive interview.
