‘Once Upon A Time’ Season Finale Recap: Was That Elsa From ‘Frozen’?!

The Once Upon a Time season finale aired on Sunday night and there were plenty of twists and turns that will keep you thinking until season four. Season three was filled with a plethora of emotional ups and downs but nothing could have prepared viewers for what was about to happen tonight. According to Entertainment Weekly, good trumped evil (again) last week and set up for a new “problem” to present itself in Storybrooke. And boy did it ever.

The episode started right up with the questions surrounding Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and whether or not she would stay in Storybrooke with Henry or if she would take him back to New York City to try and start a new life (again). Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) decided he should be the one to convince Emma to stay — with help from Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) book, of course.

The Once Upon a Time book has been key in helping people remember and make sense of things — but Emma wasn’t easily convinced this time around. It actually wasn’t until she fell into Zelena’s portal (and Hook went through after her) and wound up in the past that she realized what she wanted out of life: To belong.

You see, Emma and Hook ended up in the Enchanted Forrest at a time before Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas) knew one another. Emma accidentally messed up the first meeting of her parents and was forced to fix things — otherwise she wouldn’t even exist. Through a series of unfortunate events (many involving the “evil” Regina), Emma was able to get her parents together — and watch them fall in love. This was what made her realize that she wanted to be with her family in Storybrooke. But how would she get back?

With the Once Upon a Time story book pages blank, Emma and Hook had to be savvy. They had to be sure that the fairy tales would be re-written properly and that everything would world out. Emma went “undercover” calling herself Princess Leia. She and Hook were able to get through a portal that Emma was able to create thanks to an epiphany that she had while talking to Hook about what she really wanted out of life. Despite almost being stopped by Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle), Emma and Hook were able to get through the portal — and they brought a couple of things with them. Only one of those things was brought through purposely.

First, Emma saved a woman who was to be killed by Regina. She decided to bring her to the future to spare her life — without knowing her identity. The other thing that made it through the portal was an urn of sorts. What happened next blew everyone’s minds.

The Once Upon a Time season finale ended like this:

-Mary Margaret and David named their son Neal — Prince Neal — after a true hero.

-Emma “hooked” up with Killian when she finds out that he made the ultimate sacrifice for a pirate. He bartered his ship, the Jolly Roger, for a magic bean that would get him to New York City to get Emma back to Storybrooke after Zelena’s “missing year” spell.

-Emma decided to stay in Storybrooke with her family — and Henry.

-Emma also found herself in the Once Upon a Time book — as Princess Leia when the stories reappeared in “present day.”

-The woman that Emma saved in the Enchanted Forrest was identified as Maid Marion, Robin Hood’s dead wife, leaving Regina stunned — and looking very evil — according to TV Guide. Obviously this suggests that Regina’s true love (Robin Hood) was sniped from her once more — but surely not on purpose this time. Even still… She. Is. Furious.

-Belle and Rumple got married — in a tasteful ceremony officiated by Dr. Hopper.

-And then the most stunning moment of all: The aforementioned urn opened and leaked out a blue liquid. From it appeared a woman in a blue gown with her hair swept to the side in a long braid. She pointed her finger and white ice shot out.

Yes, that was Elsa from Frozen. So will the gang be headed to Arendelle in season 4? It certainly looks that way!

While ABC canceled Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, the main show is doing quite well. As previously reported by The Inquisitr the cancellation doesn’t say much about the original show — which had ridiculous viewership tonight.

What do you think is going to happen in season 4?
