Iggy Azalea Takes Heat From Notorious B.I.G. Fans, But She Doesn’t Care

Iggy Azalea isn’t too worried about the people who think she’s doing a disservice to the Notorious B.I.G. with her latest track “I’m Coming Out.”

The Australian rapper and Keyshia Cole were recently tapped to cover the tune for the soundtrack to the comedy The Other Woman. When Azalea heard the beat, she immediately thought of the tune “Mo Money Mo Problems” featuring Biggie, Mase, and Puffy Daddy. According to Iggy, people from her generation are more familiar with that song than Diana Ross’ “I’m Coming Out.”

However, some people weren’t exactly thrilled that Iggy Azalea would tackle something as iconic as “Mo Money Mo Problems.” In fact, the backlash surrounding the track was a little overwhelming. While some people simply avoided the song, others claimed that they’d rather drink bleach than listen to Azalea rap over that beat.

Since so many people were making a big deal about the track, Iggy Azalea decided to address the situation during a recent chat with MTV News. In short: The rapper isn’t too concerned about the hatred surrounding her collaboration with Keyshia Cole.

“I’m from a generation where I don’t think ‘I’m Coming Out.’ I’m thinking ‘Mo Money Mo Problems.’ I’m 23. That’s what I think about. I was like, ‘I need to get my Ma$e on, get my Diddy on.’ I went with that vibe, so when people heard it, they said, ‘She’s doing the Biggie remix,'” Azalea explained.

Iggy added, “I really don’t care. Come on, though. I love Biggie forever, and Tupac, but that’s a sampled song. So, don’t be mad about something that’s sampled already. That’s not an original thing. So, don’t be mad about that.”

Although some people certainly have an issue with the Iggy, it would seem that a lot of folks in the music industry are extremely eager to work with the rapper. The Inquisitr previously reported that Jennifer Lopez recently tapped Azalea for a tune on her upcoming album AKA.

“She actually only asked me about two weeks ago, so I didn’t have to keep the secret for too long. When I opened on tour for Beyoncé I had to keep that under wraps for months, which really killed me. So this is a breeze,” Iggy recently told Ryan Seacrest.

She added, “I love her. I definitely used to sit in my bedroom as a young girl and lip-sync Jennifer Lopez songs, so it’s very cool to have a song with her on her album.”
