Emma Stone Will Star Again in Woody Allen’s Next Project

Emma Stone, the 25-year-old actress who currently stars as Gwen Stacy in the the Spiderman 2 movie, seems to be Woody Allen’s newest muse. Variety recently revealed that Stone will star in Allen’s next film project, which is currently untitled, but slated to start filming in July.

This marks Emma’s second consecutive film with Woody Allen – and her first isn’t even in theaters yet. “Magic in the Moonlight” is currently in post-production and slated to open July 25th. Emma stars alongside Colin Firth in a Jazz Age romantic comedy where an Englishman (Firth) is called upon to get to the bottom of a possible swindle in the South of France.

Woody’s new project, which he’s expected to write, direct, and produce, will also star Joaquin Phoenix, marking the first time the Her actor has worked with Allen. Looks like Woody is looking for a new crop of actors to be inspired by, as he’s done in the past with actresses Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruise. We wouldn’t mind seeing more of Emma on the big screen, so we’re totally on board for a string of Emma-inspired Woody Allen flicks.

Allen’s last film in theatres was Blue Jasmine, which won star Cate Blanchett both the Golden Globe and the Oscar for her performance. Blue Jasmine hit $97 million in theaters. Emma herself is coming off a huge box office success with Spiderman 2, which stars her real-life boyfriend Andrew Garfield and did $92 million in just its first weekend. Although the film had mixed reviews, many critics still praised Stone’s performance.

Emma, whose been seen on dozens of red carpets lately promoting the film, says that she’s come under a bit of scrutiny for her weight. Many wonder if her slim frame is genetic or if she struggles with an eating disorder, but Emma firmly states that she’s “naturally thin.” “Keeping weight on is a struggle — especially when I’m under stress, and especially as I’ve gotten older,” Emma told Seventeen Magazine. But Emma doesn’t let the naysayers get to her:

“If what someone else says can easily derail you, it means your sense of self isn’t that firmly established in the first place. It’s an inside job. You’re beautiful and worthy and totally unique. People insult each other based on their own insecurities — even though it may feel personal, it really never is. Really. Seriously.”
