The Houston SPCA Animal Shelter Awarded…Though They Don’t Deserve It

The Houston SPCA was honored the Award for Excellence from the Better Business Bureau, which is a top honor given to businesses and non-profits for “service excellence”.

In a report by The Examiner, Houston SPCA, who’s mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse, and exploitation, was given the honor during the BBB’s Excellence luncheon, on Wednesday. The Better Business Bureau even had this explanation about what the “Awards of Excellence” are:

“The BBB Awards for Excellence recognizes businesses and nonprofits for their achievements and commitment to overall excellence and quality in the workplace. Proceeds from the event help fund the BBB Education Foundation, which educates consumers about scams and fraudulent business practices in the Greater Houston area.”

Houston SPCA, represented by Patricia Mercer, the President of the Houston SPCA, has stated:

“We work hard to provide top notch service to our customers and clients, and it is truly an honor to be recognized for our efforts.”

Just by their commitment and what the BBB Awards of Excellence by the Better Business Bureau, represents, Houston SPCA sounds like a very sound animal shelter. It sounds like animals are treated with respect and dignity while trying to find them a loving caring home. Right?

This has just as much weight as President Barack Obama winning the Noble Peace Prize back in 2009 for “talking” about strengthening international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.

I am guessing the Better Business Bureau omitted the numerous reports that Houston SPCA, advertised as a “no kill shelter” or only killing “unadoptable pets”, kills more than half of their animals. The precise percentage of the Houston SPCA kill rate is 65% – meaning if we went with rounding rules, 7 out of 10 animals are killed off. According to An Animal Advocate, most of their animal holocaust tactics are covered by a lustrous sheen of happy advertising and fake smiles. The Houston SPCA even has a hit television show on Animal Planet with a huge and loyal following. In short, they are polishing a turd as much as anyone likes, but it is still a turd.

The keyword that the Better Business Bureau missed, that is part of the shelter’s hidden Hitler-like mantra, is “unadoptable pets”. Mercer and the Houston SPCA will kill any animal if they see fit to register them as unadoptable. That is why the Houston SPCA kills any loyal dog that just looks remotely like a pit bull. That is why the Houston SPCA kills any cat they want as long as they can brand it “aggressive”.

People are now standing up to Houston SPCA and their free enterprise to kill any animal they deem fit to kill, despite their lies. There is even a Facebook Page called “No Name Pittie Will Die At Houston SPCA”, dedicated to the petitioning to terminate Patti Mercer and investigate Houston SPCA.
