Hugh Jackman Interviews Himself For ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

Hugh Jackman found a very unique way to help promote X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Instead of sitting down with some random reporter during his press junket for the upcoming superhero epic, Jackman decided to take matters in his own hands. Through the magic of “time travel,” Hugh was recently able to interview a younger version of himself.

Of course, the charismatic actor didn’t really leap through time and space to chat with the 1999 version of Hugh Jackman. According to Cinema Blend, the skit came together with a little help from the folks over at Yahoo! Movies. The clip isn’t anything as elaborate or impressive as Jeremiah McDonald’s legendary YouTube video — it’s just an actor poking a little fun at his own career.

In addition to joking about playing Wolverine for over 14 years, Jackman tells his younger self about the future of comic book movies. He also discusses how big his career becomes over the years before declaring that The Prestige and The Fountain are two of his best and brightest movies.

Proving that Hugh Jackman has a sense of humor about himself and his success in Hollywood, the actor tells himself not to star in the critical and financial disaster known as Movie 43. Sadly, it would appear that the 1999 version of Hugh wasn’t paying much attention during this portion of the interview. As far as we can tell, Jackman still has a role in that picture. How brutally unfortunate.

Of course, Hugh Jackman failed to tell himself that he probably won’t tackle the role of Wolverine for much longer. The Inquisitr previously reported that the next standalone Wolverine flick is quite possibly Hugh’s last adventure as the iconic superhero.

“I don’t know [what’s happening with Wolverine 3 yet]. We’re talking it through. I still am very ambitious for the character. And tonally I feel like we corrected the ship with the last one. But I feel we can still go further, in a way. If I did another one I’m 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me,” he told SFX magazine.

Jackman added, “We are looking at a lot of different storylines. No one has jumped out. You can tell from my answer that we’re still working it out. I’m working with Jim Mangold, which is exciting. All the things that Jim can do, one of the great things he does is develop scripts. I’m excited to see what we can come up with.”

Hugh Jackman fans can catch X-Men: Days of Future Past in theaters on May 23.
