Lil Wayne Gets Some Help From Soulja Boy On ‘Tha Carter V’

Lil Wayne recently received some help from rapper Soulja Boy on the upcoming album Tha Carter V.

The rapper’s new record is one of the most talked about releases looming on the musical horizon these days. Although fans originally thought they were getting the new batch of songs on May 5, Lil Wayne’s manager ultimately shot down those rumors during a brief interview last month. Now it’s unknown when the record will see the proverbial light of day.

Judging from the number of people who are helping out with the project, there’s a good chance Tha Carter V is Lil Wayne’s biggest album to-date. During his chat with Fader magazine, Soulja Boy revealed that he recently spent quite a bit of time contributing some work to the record.

“I’m working on Diddy’s project right now. He’s doing his last album right now, it’s called ‘Money Making Mitch.’ That’s been taking up a lot of my focus. So is the [Lil Wayne’s] ‘Carter V.’ When I was in Miami I did like two beats for CV, and I just been tryna go back in on them beats and make them the best for Tune,” the rapper explained.

In addition to helping out Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy also assisted Nicki Minaj with her upcoming endeavor. The rapper added, ” And Nicki’s joint, ‘The Pink Print’ is dropping. Her new song ‘Yasss Bish,’ I produced that and wrote the hook. I think that record is gonna be so big for her.”

Lil Wayne fans got a taste of Tha Carter V over the weekend. In addition to dropping the tune “Believe Me,” featuring Drake, Saturday morning, fans who watched the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight against Marcos Maidana got a chance to see Lil Wayne perform the track live. It’s definitely an odd way to introduce a new song, but the rapper obviously knows what he’s doing.

According to Billboard, there’s still a good chance Lil Wayne could release Tha Carter V at some point this month. Unfortunately for fans who can’t wait to spend their money on the record, it’s still unclear when it will arrive. Since surprise releases are all the rage these days — you can thank Beyoncé for that — Lil Wayne may end up springing the album on the world without much notice.

Are you looking forward to Lil Wayne’s new album? Do you think the rapper still intends to release Tha Carter V later this month?
