Coverage of the NFL draft is now spread out over an entire weekend, with the first round kicking off Thursday at 8 pm from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
This year’s draft action could get started even before the first pick is announced. There are rumors that the Houston Texans may be trading the draft’s top pick, with the Buffalo Bills emerging as the top suitor. The Bills are reportedly interested in South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney, an immediate impact player who would join what is already considered the league’s best front seven.
Fans who want to watch the 2014 NFL draft live online will see plenty of other drama. This year’s draft has an interesting quarterback class, with Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater once considered a potential No. 1 pick before falling out of favor. He’s now projected anywhere from the top 10 to out of the first round entirely.
Johnny Manziel has seen his fortunes go the other way. Once seen as a shaky prospect — and he still is according to some pundits — the Texas A&M quarterback is now considered a top five talent.
In interviews the week of the 2014 NFL draft, Manziel said the criticisms are a bit unfair.
“I see there’s room for me to improve, but to say I’m just a backyard-football quarterback, I don’t think you do what I did in college and do some of those things [with that style],” he told about 40 reporters. “I don’t think that’s extremely fair. I hear it, but for me, I know it’s all about my work ethic and my will to get better. That’s very alive and inside me.”
It’s likely Manziel will go to the Cleveland Browns at the No. 4 pick, but if he should slide there are some teams that would love to snatch him up, including the Dallas Cowboys at No. 16.
