Heat vs. Nets game 1 tips off at 7 P.M. Eastern Standard Time tonight. Miami comes into tonight’s Nets vs. Heat series as the second seed and favorite over the sixth-seeded Brooklyn Nets, but both teams realize that home court advantage isn’t everything. The Nets certainly haven’t had any problem taking care of business in Miami this season. The Nets have won all four of the teams’ match ups during the regular season.

This isn’t the regular season, though. All four games this year were tight. The Nets won three of them by one point and the fourth in double overtime, according to a Yahoo! Sports report. If they want to advance past the Eastern Conference semifinals, they only need to win four more – and they have seven chances to do it.

Of course, nobody expects the Miami Heat to roll over and die. Not only are they the two-time defending NBA champions, but they have a roster better stocked than some of history’s NBA All-Star Teams. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh…the list goes on. From the time of the crazy fiasco that brought LeBron to Miami in 2010, the Heat have focused on stacking the deck against any and all comers. This team was built to win championships and if they go down in the playoffs, don’t expect it to be easy.

According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Dwyane Wade had this to say about his team’s opponents in the Heat vs. Nets series:

“They figured out a way to beat us four times and that hasn’t happened. So we’ve got to crack that code.”

Wade missed two of the four Heat vs. Nets regular season games this year. Brooklyn isn’t likely to have the luxury of playing Miami without their star shooting guard during the Nets vs. Heat series.

Brooklyn’s Paul Pierce had this to say as the Heat vs. Nets series is ready to get underway:

“The goal from the beginning when we came in here was to win a championship and we understand that in order to do that, you have to go through the best. And Miami being that team over the last couple years, we figured this was going to be a test for us.”

Pierce has squared off against Miami star LeBron James in four playoff series so far. They are 2-2 against each other, but LeBron hasn’t lost against Pierce since moving to Miami.
