Ed Sheeran On One Direction’s Hotel Fiasco: Blame The Record Label

Ed Sheeran believes that One Direction’s recent hotel fiasco is the result of leaks perpetrated by the group’s record label.

For those who haven’t read anything about the aforementioned pop group in recent days, the singers were reportedly forced to find other lodgings after hundreds of adoring fans swarmed the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas in Peru. The resulting security concerns prompted the band to find someplace else to rest their heads.

“There were hundreds of screaming girls outside the hotel. Police were struggling to keep them back and keep them off the road. The fans with their posters nearly filled the entire square,” an insider explained to The Sun.

How did fans know where to find One Direction? Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has a few theories about the situation. During a separate interview with The Sun, Sheeran said he firmly believes that the group’s record label secretly leaked this info to the public.

“If you notice, whenever these big artists go into towns and there are thousands of kids outside the hotel — especially South America — it’s all the label leaking where they are. They [the label] leak their flight and hotel details all to create a media frenzy,” Ed Sheeran explained.

The singer added, “They got some great photos, but I don’t think it’s fair on the kids or the artists, because the kids don’t get to meet the bands and the artists get very claustrophobic.”

If Ed Sheeran gets a little claustrophobic around his fans, then he keeps those emotions under control during the exchange. The Inquisitr previously reported that several of Sheeran’s supporters hung around until the wee hours of the morning to catch the guy after his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Instead of bypassing folks and going about his business, Sheeran took a moment to pose for photos and hand out autographs. Sheeran also gave his dedicated fans $2 bills as a way of thanking them for their dedication.

“[Ed Sheeran] thought they were cool because they’re quite rare. It’s not exactly part of the normal circulation in America. He wanted to give the handful of bills to the fans who waited for him, as a thank you gesture,” an insider explained.

The source continued, “Sheeran told them to keep the notes safe because they might be worth something one day! He was really sweet. Ed’s not exactly Zac Efron but he’s incredibly popular with the ladies. When he left the party he even had a lipstick kiss mark on his cheek.”

Do you agree with Ed Sheeran that labels of leak hotel info to fans?
