Someone Hides Razor Blades In San Diego Playground, Two Boys Hurt — Fourth Time This Year It’s Happened

Someone hid several razor blades in a San Diego park including just many feet from a playground, leaving two young boys injured.

The worst part, however, is that it’s the fourth time this year that the person has hidden blades in the park waiting slice unsuspecting people.

Cassie Padilla was walking on Bonita Cove Park on Wednesday with her two sons, ages 7 and 15. She said the boys were running barefoot when both of them stepped on the razor blade.

“The 7-year-old was actually embedded in his foot,” said San Diego police Lt. Paul Phillips. “Paramedics were able to pull the razor blade out.”

Padilla said the younger boy’s cut was severe, and that the blade was likely sticking up. A crew from 10News filmed as the boy was carried to his mother’s truck, his foot in a bandage and tears in his eyes.

The other brother’s wound was not as severe, but he was shaken up nonetheless.

Police said that this is now the fourth time this year that someone went to Bonita Cove Park and hid razor blades, sharp side up. Police went to the park after the most recent incident with metal detectors, finding 19 razor blades.

“I’ve got children and I can only imagine something like this happening,” Phillips said. “The first word that comes to my mind is sickness. It’s either a sickness or someone who’s got an evil mind.”

A similar incident happened last month in Iowa, when someone glued razor blades all over a playground. A toddler grabbed onto one of the hidden blades, cutting his hand.

Police in San Diego said they are taking the razor blades in Bonita Cove Park as evidence to see if they can get DNA, and are also checking local businesses to see their surveillance videos.
